Chateau booking conditions

Our terms and conditions are below. We have tried to form these to be helpful to both parties and provide useful information.

  • Our holiday weeks normally run Saturday to Saturday, except for some Christmas, New Year and Easter bookings.
  • When you have checked availability and decided to book; please confirm your wish to book the dates we have agreed by phone, fax or email, to avoid disappointment. Complete the booking form, on screen or by hand and send this with your deposit cheque for one third of the agreed hire charge. Without your deposit cheque, we can only hold your reservation for five working days.
  • The balance of the account is payable in full, in pounds sterling, eight weeks before the start of the tenancy. With the balance, please send a security deposit of £100 for each week booked.
  • On receipt of your payments (balance and security deposit) we will send you contact details for the chateau, directions, how to collect the keys, information on the house and equipment, to help you settle in comfortably.
  • You will have sole use of the chateau and grounds.
  • Your party can check in at 4.00 p,m. on the Saturday of arrival, (for a late arrival we can arrange to leave keys). On your day of departure, please check out by 10.00 a.m. The chateau is a large property and we do ask you, very politely, to keep to the departure time. We do understand this is very hard for you, as holidaymakers, when most of the group want more time to snooze (especially if there are teenagers). We're sure you will appreciate that every visitor likes a spotless holiday home to move into.
  • The house will have been cleaned and prepared for your arrival and the inventory checked. It is expected that the accommodation will be left clean and in good order. Any costs incurred for extra cleaning, or making good damage, or loss, will be deducted from the security deposit. In our experience, deductions are rare and the deposit is usually refunded after departure.
  • The price of your holiday includes gas and electricity, for cooking, lighting, hot water (along with oil for central heating if the weather requires). Logs are provided for open fires in the two sitting rooms. Tablecloths, tea towels and bed linen are provided, beds will be made up for your arrival. We do ask you to bring baby bedding, bathroom towels and face flannels.
  • We would appreciate your party wearing soft shoes or slippers inside the house, to preserve the wood floors. Soft footwear also has the benefit of preserving the peace for your party, where people are using two separate staircases.
  • We have the chateau and its contents insured, including public liability insurance but the insurance does not cover personal property of guests, neither are the outbuildings covered. We want every guest to enjoy the chateau grounds but do ask that you tell children not to enter the barns and outbuildings.
  • Should there be a breakage in the property, our French insurance agent, Monsieur Ruel, has said our chateau insurance would not cover this. He did assure me that the UK house insurance of our guests should cover necessary replacement.

You can return to the bookings page here. Should you have any questions about the terms, please contact us. All we wish, is that you have a wonderful, comfortable holiday, which you will remember for a long time.
